Allopathic medicine, or disease treatment, offers tremendous, life-saving advances for patients with various acute conditions. Today, massage is widely recognized as a clinically effective treatment option as it is used within an allopathic context.
- Using massage, we help reweave fascia with precision; improve circulation; and help muscles, tendons and ligaments heal.
- With sufficient case knowledge, massage supports new and more effective postures and movement patterns.
- Massage has immediate effect on the autonomic nervous system, helping to relieve stress, including its negative effects on digestion, elimination, respiration, heart rate, circulation, lymphatic flow and the formation of trigger points.

On the physical, mental and emotional planes of health, beyond helping one to feel relaxed, well-documented research has shown that massage offers a host of tangible benefits:
- Improving circulation of blood and lymph fluids
- Stretching connective tissue, breaking down formation of adhesions
- Assisting in removal of metabolic wastes
- Strengthening the immune system
- Relaxing muscle tension and improving overall tone and posture
- Enhancing self-image and feeling of well being.
- Reducing mental stress, improving ability to monitor its signals.
- Increased awareness of mind/body connection

Interest in therapeutic massage has sparked a growing list of “bodywork” movements, each claiming to be the ultimate in touch therapy. While knowledgeable therapists are aware of these, no one theory, style, or school of thought is the answer to all soft tissue needs. One fact remains: There are only so many ways to affect and move soft tissue. The healing art of massage is just that—an art form—learned over many years and practiced on many types of muscular-skeletal disorders. At Med Massage, our therapists are well-versed in the art of the practice, with a solid foundation built on sound scientific principles.

Therapeutic massage should be a positive, healing experience. While massage to normal tissue can be a pleasant sensation, in areas of injury or chronic pain, some discomfort may occur, but will eventually diminish. Your massage session will include:
- Consultation with a licensed medical therapist
- Evaluation of your health history and current physical condition
- A description of the session, addressing questions and concerns
- Joint movements, as needed, for best possible results
- Undraping of only the area being massaged
- Aromatherapy and hydrotherapy enhancements
At Med Massage, we suggest a program of several massage sessions to accomplish your goals. After the initial sessions, your comfort level will increase and you will begin to experience a new awareness of your physical state. This is the point at which the benefits of massage prove beneficial.

Massage can accelerate the healing process, increase range of motion, and reduce adhesions, spasms, swelling, bruising and pain caused by an accident, injury or medical procedure. Areas of stress in other muscles, created through compensating for an injury, can be eased with a regular massage regimen. Further, massage can partially compensate for lack of exercise during inactivity while recovering from injury.
At your request, we will consult with your primary care physician or personal fitness trainer regarding your individual needs.

Sports massage is more than just a reward at the end of a workout. Particularly beneficial when an athlete is training for an event, it is also helpful for individuals who routinely stretch their physical limits through movement. Med Massage offers comprehensive sports-related services:
PRE-EVENT: Boosts circulation, increases flexibility and range of motion, thereby reducing muscle pain and soreness, leaving muscles relaxed and ready for action. Pre-event massage can help prevent muscle and tendon injuries and reduce the strain of discomfort of training.
POST-EVENT: Recovery involves not only normalization and repair of tissue, but also general relaxation and mental calming. Massage increases circulation to quicken removal of toxins, relieve muscle spasms, and prevent soreness.
TRAINING: Throughout training and rigorous athletic activity, massage helps prevent injuries. Areas of muscular stress can result from repetitive or stressful motion, typically precursors to injury, enabling harder and more consistent training.
